History of Oceanside Village Oceanside Village sits on property that was once known as the "Yoga Bear Campground" and was owned and operated by Dr. Russell Hunsberger. Mr. Bill Collins of Charlotte, North Carolina acquired the campground in 1974, which primarily consisted of the section closest to the ocean, and changed the name to Donnybrook; however, ownership of the land remained with Dr. Hunsberger. His intention was to expand and develop the area with the help of Mr. Ray Costin. Mrs. Mary Orr, who for all practical purposes ran Donnybrook, was one of the key employees. In 1979, due to his advancing age, Mr. Collins elected to retire and put Donnybrook up for sale. It was Mr. Costin's opinion that Mr. Collins had had a very good idea in developing Donnybrook, but to buy the project would require restructuring the lease. Negotiations took place over the period of about six months and, due to Mr. Collins' declining health, Mr. Dale Stancil and Mr. Costin purchased the project, changed the name to Oceanside Village, and built the project as you see it today. © 2006 by SMPWebDesigns.
